Volunteer Coordinator (contract)
Salary Range: $25.00 - $27.00
Job Type: Part-time
Work Hours: Two days per week, preferably Tuesday and Wednesday, 8 am-4 pm.

ABOUT US:
The Campbell River Hospice Society provides compassionate end-of-life and grief support to individuals of all ages at no cost through the support of dedicated volunteers and generous donors.

POSITION:
We are looking for a dynamic and organized Volunteer Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will manage our volunteer program, which includes conducting our annual end-of-life volunteer training, recruiting volunteers, providing support to grief, end-of-life and event volunteers, and fostering community engagement. Additionally, the Volunteer Coordinator will perform various support-related duties as needed. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful impact through effective volunteer management.
Reporting: As Volunteer Coordinator, you will report to the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:

Degree in Social Work, Nursing, or equivalent; or Personal Care Worker certification.

Volunteer management experience is preferred but not essential.

Proficient computer skills.

Skilled at building and maintaining meaningful relationships with volunteers and coworkers.

Comprehensive knowledge of Hospice Care and the grief process.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Outgoing, compassionate and kind.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitate an existing annual volunteer training workshop. (Training & Support provided)

Provide support to end-of-life volunteers through a secure communication app and conduct regular check-ins at locations such as Yucalta Lodge, Hospice Suites at Evergreen, Campbell River Hospital, private residences, and other long-term care facilities.

Ongoing recruitment of end-of-life, grief, holistic practitioners and event volunteers.

Supporting the event coordinator in planning the annual Volunteer Tea

Attend weekly team meetings with Hospice Staff

Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams, including the VIHA Palliative Care team.

Collaborate with partnering organizations requiring volunteer support.

Liaison with community partners.

Regularly encourage, support, and express gratitude to volunteers to foster a positive and appreciative environment.

Maintain accurate records of volunteer activities for reporting.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Valid driver's license and vehicle required; and

Criminal Record Check required.
