We're moving!

New location Coming Soon:
1030-9th Avenue Campbell River
We are thrilled to share that our new Hospice Thrift Store will be opening in mid-November (or early winter). Thanks to the generosity of a local private benefactor, we were able to purchase this much larger space without using any of Hospice’s existing funds.
This new store represents so much more than just retail—it is the cornerstone of our future sustainability. With only 3.5% of our annual funding coming from government sources—outside of our annual gaming grant application—it became clear that a reliable, community-driven income stream was essential to sustain the rising demand for grief and end-of-life support, especially with the growing impact of traumatic loss on children and families.
Why This Store Matters
💙 With rising demand for grief and end-of-life support—and the growing impact of traumatic loss—it became clear that a sustainable income source was essential.
💙 As deaths climb from the toxic drug crisis, demand for our grief support has tripled.
💙 This gift is a powerful investment in our community and ensures compassionate care will continue for generations.
💙 With continued community support, we’re confident the new store will thrive and become a major funding source for our services.
💙 The store has been built on 97% volunteer support. As we expand, new volunteers are essential.
Every purchase, every donation, every volunteer hour is directly tied to more counselling hours for grieving children, more bedside support for families, and more community workshops for those navigating loss.
But Here’s Where We Need You
We want to be honest: this is a big step for Hospice. It’s an incredible opportunity—but also a leap of faith. For this store to succeed, it will take all of us: board, staff, volunteers, and our community, spreading the word.
👉 Help us make this a great success by:
-
Sharing news about the opening far and wide—tell friends, family, neighbours.
-
Donating gently used items and encouraging others to do the same.
-
Volunteering your time for sorting and customer service shifts.
-
Shopping with us and reminding others that every purchase supports free grief and end-of-life care in Campbell River.
Volunteer Call-Out: Assembly & Operations
We are currently seeking volunteers to:
-
Help assemble furniture and fixtures before opening
-
Sort donations and stock shelves
-
Become an ongoing store volunteer as we extend store hours
Your presence and your voice will determine the store’s success—and its success will mean that every child, every family, and every person in Campbell River who needs Hospice will find the support they deserve.
